Betfred League One Preview | Round 4

Round 4 of Betfred League One is here, with three games taking place on Sunday 7 April.

North Wales Crusaders will look to make it three from three when they welcome Newcastle Thunder to town, whereas Thunder are still seeking their first win of the 2024 campaign.

Thunder matched their opponents Workington in the first half last Sunday and were deservedly leading at the interval - a huge improvement in recent weeks. But a blitz of tries in the next forty would see Town run away with the game in the end, so Thunder will need to ensure they produce an 80 minute performance over in Colwyn Bay if they are to record their first two points this time around.

The two sides haven’t met since 2019 and it was one a piece when they did - both emerging victors at one another’s home ground.

Elsewhere, Workington Town will entertain Rochdale Hornets on home soil. Town have won their last seven meetings with the Hornets, including their last four home meetings.

Town will be hoping to make it two from two, whilst Rochdale will be determined to bounce back at the first attempt, following an extremely disappointing defeat to near neighbours Oldham on Easter Sunday - a game which was streamed live on The Sportsman.

In West Yorkshire, Hunslet will play hosts to Oldham, who are currently unbeaten. Hunslet, on the other hand, suffered a heavy defeat to local rivals Keighley in Round 3 and will hope to return to winning ways in Round 4.

Sean Long's Oldham come into this game on the back of two successive wins, including an emphatic victory over Rochdale last Sunday, and will look to continue their fine form when they make this journey across the Pennines.
